Troyes with a handicap (+2)

Marseille has not been playing well lately. In the final segment of 6 rounds, he was only able to get 2 wins and showed a frankly poor game against Strasbourg (2:2), Montpellier (1:1) and Lorient (0:0).

As a result, Igor Tudor’s team lost second place in the table, giving way to Lance.

It is worth noting that the “southerners” are doing noticeably worse at home than away, as evidenced by only 40% of the points scored at the Velodrom. Marseille are approaching the upcoming meeting with a streak of 5 consecutive defeats.

Troyes managed just 21 points from 30 matchdays and deservedly finished in the top three in Ligue 1. Patrick Kisnorbo’s team cannot win 13 games in a row, with the last win dated to early January 2023. At the end of the season, the Blues act as the main points provider.

According to predicted created (xT = 1.1) and allowed (xTA = 1.72) threats, Troyes ranks second to last. However, the negative trend is gradually decreasing. Troyes went from losing with a devastating result and pulled up in terms of expected goals scored. For example, they recently beat Auxerre by 0.4xg, losing to Clermont and Brest by 0.8 and 0.2xg respectively.

Marseille are clear favourites, but I doubt they will be able to beat the incrementally developing Troyes in their current state.
