Alex, 23, has won six tournaments in his career, five on hard and one on grass, but not a single triumph directly on the European continent. 2022 was not a breakout year for the Australian, just one trophy in Atlanta and generally Alex hasn’t won any really big tournaments in his career. Despite this, the Australian played AO-2023 as he should, knocking out Taiwanese Xu Yu, Frenchman Mannarino and Bonzi. Alex flew off, as we wrote above, from Novak Djokovic.

If De Minaur flew out of the Major at the fourth round stage, then Rublev reached the quarterfinals and could have gone on, but like De Minaur, he met Novak Djokovic, whom he lost without a chance. We predicted this result based on the fact that Rublev had previously played an extremely difficult match against Rune, and Djokovic had no major problems in matches against opponents. In addition to Rune, Rublev eliminated Tim, Ruusuvuori and Evans from the Melbourne draw. If Rublev in Rotterdam will show more or less the same level of tennis as in Melbourne, we doubt that Andrei will have problems in the match with the Australian.

Tennis player Rating Total number of matches in 2023 wins failures
Alex De Minaur 25 6 4 2
Andrei Rublev 5 7 4 3

De Minaur and Rublev played each other three times and interestingly all matches turned out to be a ride, in each of them the guys exchanged won sets. The result of the confrontation is 2:1 in favor of the Australian, Alex defeated Andrei in Washington and Milan, Rublev took revenge on the Australian at the 2022 Monte Carlo tournament.

Rublev has improved decently over the past few years, Alex is clearly not keeping up with Rublev, who has long been in the top 10 of the ATP rankings and regularly wins tournaments at the ATP-500 level. In Melbourne, Andrei showed himself well and might as well have gone beyond the 1/4 finals if Novak Djokovic hadn’t stood in the way of the Russian. Andrei loves Indura, he is in good shape, judging by AO. So we believe that Rublev will take a confident victory in the upcoming match and that for the first time in history, Rublev and De Minaur will not exchange winning sets.

The main prediction is for Rublev to win with a handicap (-2.5) at 1.70
